Redick closes the Chathrand Voyage with emotional conviction, and the Thasha-Erithusmé identity dilemma is the most original concept in a series that handles ship-based fantasy with real skill. The problem is that this is genuinely inaccessible without three prior volumes, and the demonic Swarm antagonist is less gripping than the human villains of the earlier books. A satisfying conclusion for the faithful but not a title that can be recommended on its own.
