The Odyssey
Homer, Robert Fagles & Bernard Knox · 1997
90/100
👍 Worth It
Fagles's translation is the one that made me actually enjoy reading Homer — vivid, propulsive, and never stuffy. Yes, there are monsters, gods, and a genuinely violent climax, but this is foundational storytelling that's earned its place in every home library. Bernard Knox's introduction alone is worth the price of admission for context.
