This is a genuine sociology classic, and it still holds up — Goffman's idea that we're all performing for an audience, even in ordinary moments, is the kind of insight that changes how you see everyday life. It's dense, academic prose from the 1950s so it asks more of you than a typical self-help title, but narrator Graham Halstead (an Audie Award winner and trained stage actor) makes the listen genuinely worth it rather than a slog.
