The contributor roster here is genuinely extraordinary — Kahneman, Seligman, Gardner, Putnam, Frank — and as a 2005 foundational compendium for the emerging field of positive psychology and well-being science, it has real academic importance. But this is a 546-page Oxford University Press scholarly volume written for researchers, and two decades of subsequent work has advanced the field considerably since its publication. Serious academics in the field should know it exists; general readers should look for something written for them.
