This is one of the most influential books in the servant-leadership genre for good reason — the monastery-retreat parable makes an abstract idea (leading through service, not power) land in a way straight nonfiction often doesn't. Some readers find the fable-wrapped-around-a-lecture device a little heavy-handed, but millions of readers clearly didn't mind.
