The Kiesha'ra omnibus is a richer achievement than its packaging suggests — Hawksong in particular brings genuine political and emotional weight to the shapeshifter romance premise, and the peacemaking-across-cultures theme gives the series a spine that outlasts the genre trappings. Quality dips in the later books, but the complete arc is worth it for YA fantasy readers who want more substance than usual.
