Self-help β¦ Penny’s Take
The Sour Grape Intl/e
Jory John Β· 2022
78/100
π Worth It
Jory John and Pete Oswald have built one of the best social-skills picture-book series going, and The Sour Grape is a worthy entry. The origin story that explains how Grape became so bitter is a clever move that builds genuine empathy before the lesson lands, and Oswald's illustrations do a lot of the emotional heavy lifting. A slight preachiness at the end is a minor quibble against an otherwise warm, funny, and useful book.
