Self-help ✦ Penny’s Take
The Story Girl
L. M. Montgomery · 2010
82/100
👍 Worth It
Montgomery herself called this her finest work, and it is easy to see why — the prose is among the most lyrical she ever wrote, and Sara Stanley is one of her most vivid, original characters. The episodic structure asks for patience, but the payoff is a genuinely enchanting portrait of storytelling as a way of making sense of the world. Available free in the public domain, it is an easy recommend for readers who love the Anne books and want something a little different.
