This little book has been making children howl with laughter for decades for very good reason — the premise is perfectly calibrated to what kids find funny, the poop-identification tour is genuinely educational about animal biology, and Wolf Erlbruch's illustrations are visually inventive in a way that gives the book staying power beyond the joke. Parents who want bathroom-humor-free picture books should look elsewhere, but everyone else has a certified classic on their hands.
