Self-help β¦ Penny’s Take
The Unaccountability Machine
Dan Davies Β· 2025
86/100
π Worth It
Dan Davies takes the genuinely obscure idea of management cybernetics and makes it feel like the missing key to understanding why institutions keep failing the same ways. The accountability-sink concept is original, the prose is unusually readable for this kind of systems-thinking book, and the FT longlisting and New Statesman book-of-year recognition are well earned. The solutions section is thinner than the diagnosis, but the diagnosis alone is worth the price.
