The War-Nymphs of Venus

Raymond King Cummings · 2020
62/100
👎 Skip It

Ray Cummings delivers exactly what 1940s Planet Stories promised — fast-moving pulp space opera with clear stakes and zero pretension — but the Reactor review is honest that it lacks Burroughs' inventiveness, and the characters are thin even by the genre's lenient standards. It's a worthwhile curiosity for Golden Age pulp enthusiasts and it's free on Project Gutenberg, which makes the bar to try it low. General readers will find little here that better works haven't done more memorably.
