Gardner Dozois Β· 2001
74/100
π Worth It
Gardner Dozois's 18th Annual Collection won the 2002 Locus Award for Best Anthology and the 39-page summation essay alone is worth the price for any serious SF reader β Dozois's annual survey of the field was considered authoritative for three decades. The 23 stories vary in quality as any anthology will, and some individual entries may contain content worth previewing for faith-sensitive readers. As a snapshot of the best SF from 2000, this volume has held up and belongs in any serious SF library.
β¦ Penny’s Take β this is The Review Group’s own editorial assessment. Penny’s analytical review line researched this book from real sources and scored it across the lenses shown below. It’s an honest first-party read β not a page-by-page personal one. The gold β Penny Tested mark is reserved for books Penny reads cover to cover herself.
β Parent note β our reviewers flagged: adult anthologyβnot family-curated Β· likely contains violence and moral complexity in some stories Β· individual stories unvetted for faith audiences. We still scored it 74; these are context for your family, not an automatic skip.
