Moll's collection brought together the leading Vygotsky scholars of its era to translate zone of proximal development, scaffolding, and mediation into classroom-ready implications — and it became a standard graduate text for good reason. Some chapters are dated relative to newer extensions of Vygotskian theory, and practicing teachers without graduate training will find it heavy going. For teacher educators and educational psychology researchers, it remains a foundational reference that has genuinely earned its continued citation.
