Waiting for Wednesday

Nicci French keeps the Frieda Klein series compelling through sharp character work and a London atmosphere that feels genuinely lived-in, even as the third entry's serial-killer subplot lands with less force than the dual-murder investigation that anchors the book. It is dark and violent enough that sensitive readers should steer clear, and the series continuity is important enough that newcomers will get less from it. For committed psychological-thriller fans already in the series, the character development alone makes it worth the time.
