Mary Bubnik and her misfit ballet friends are easy company, and the false-accusation plot gives young readers something to root against with a satisfying resolution. The formula is predictable and the characters stay thin, as was common for series fiction of this era. Enjoyable for its target age but not a title that rises above its modest genre conventions.
