The Peases write with genuine wit and the book's commercial success across a dozen languages tells you it struck a nerve for a lot of readers. The problem is that the scientific foundation — brain lateralization and evolutionary hunting/gathering roles as explanations for everyday gender differences — is contested territory that has been substantially walked back in subsequent neuroscience research. Publishers Weekly flagged the problematic stereotypes at publication; those concerns have only grown since. Fun at the beach, but not a reliable guide to how people actually work.
