This four-novel anthology brings together warmly regarded wartime women's fiction drawn from family memory, and Annie Groves's London Belles in particular has earned a loyal readership. But the anthology format means uneven quality across four different authors, and the genre conventions are well-worn. Fans of British WWII family sagas will likely enjoy it; readers new to the genre would do better to start with one of the individual novels first.
