The World Bank's WDI series is the gold standard for development statistics, and the 2003 edition is a clean snapshot of the world at the dawn of the Millennium Development Goals β genuinely useful for historical and archival research. As a current reference it's simply obsolete; the data is more than twenty years old. Historians, economic researchers studying that period, or anyone building a longitudinal dataset will find real value here; everyone else should use the current edition.
