Zero to One
Peter Thiel's compact startup manifesto asks the question serious entrepreneurs need: what are you building that doesn't already exist? His case for monopoly over competition, and for distribution being as important as product, comes from genuine PayPal and early Facebook experience β this isn't armchair theory. It's intellectually bracing and reads fast. The honest caveat is that it's heavily Silicon Valley in its assumptions, and some of Thiel's contrarian posturing doesn't hold up under scrutiny β he criticizes credentialism while being highly credentialed himself. The libertarian worldview runs underneath without being flagged. Still, for anyone thinking about starting something real, the central framework here is worth wrestling with.
