Children's ✦ Penny’s Take

👍 Worth It
A real school-library workhorse: Evans Brothers' Take Ten Years series walks kids through the decade year by year in news-report format — Vietnam, Roe v. Wade, Mother Teresa's Nobel — in 48 tight pages. Long out of print, but used copies run a few dollars and the Internet Archive lends it free. For a homework-age kid who needs the 1970s to make sense fast, this beats a Wikipedia spiral. Worth it as the cheap used find it now is.
