Children's ✦ Penny’s Take
365 Bedtime Stories
Christine Allison · 2011
A full-year calendar anthology of classic stories — Grimm, Andersen, Aesop — organized by season and formatted for one story per night, which is a genuinely sustainable and appealing structure for family reading. The range of source material is solid and the illustrations are charming. The honest caveat is that the publisher's claimed age range of two to ten overstates it: the moral-lesson tone and character descriptions land poorly for children under five, and the fairy-tale magic and light spooky content around Halloween may give some faith families pause. Best for five to ten.
✦ Penny’s Take — this is The Review Group’s own editorial assessment. Penny’s analytical review line researched this book from real sources and scored it across the lenses shown below. It’s an honest first-party read — not a page-by-page personal one. The gold ✓ Penny Tested mark is reserved for books Penny reads cover to cover herself.
⚠ Parent note — our reviewers flagged: mild fairy-tale magic (witches, spells, enchantments) · October spooky tales (light scary folklore) · moral-lesson tone may feel heavy for toddlers under 5 · Grimm content includes peril and moral consequences. We still scored it 64; these are context for your family, not an automatic skip.
