This Ladybird picture book does exactly what it sets out to do — slip number bonds and early counting into a genuinely funny animal romp that caregivers will enjoy reading aloud as much as kids enjoy hearing it. The rhyming couplets are natural and the maths never feels like homework. The shelf life is short (a very tight 3-5 window) but within that window it earns its place.
