A Counting Christmas Carol

Misti Kenison · 2020
91/100
👍 Worth It

This slim board book threads counting from one to ten through the familiar world of A Christmas Carol — Scrooge, the ghosts, Tiny Tim — giving toddlers their first brush with a literary classic while they practice early numeracy. At just 16 pages it does exactly what it sets out to do: pair bright, cheerful illustrations with a simple count-along structure that caregivers and babies can work through together. Misti Kenison's graphic-design background shows in the visual clarity. The honest caveat is that there is almost no story here — it is a counting frame dressed in Dickens costume rather than a true adaptation. For what it is, though, it earns its place on the holiday shelf. A sweet, purposeful gift for the infant-to-toddler set at Christmastime.
