This is a solid anthology for horse-loving kids, organized with a pleasing seasonal structure and tackling real emotional territory like divorce and loss with age-appropriate care. The narrow subject matter limits who will pick it up, and without a stronger critical record it is hard to know how evenly the twelve stories land. A good fit for young equestrian readers but unlikely to cross over beyond that audience.
