The recipe conceit is genuinely clever — framing the bedtime routine as a cooking instruction lifts this above the heap of generic goodnight books. Bently's songlike verse and Massini's soft illustrations work together beautifully at read-aloud time, and the Sheffield Award shortlist is well earned. It lives entirely in the 0–3 lane, but in that lane it's a strong performer.
