Helena Perez Garcia's illustrations are the clear reason to pick this up — they're award-winning quality and genuinely beautiful. But at least one reviewer found the retellings themselves so sanitized of narrative tension that the stories feel flat, and if the illustrations are what you're after, there are better-crafted anthologies pairing strong art with stronger text.
