A Trip to the Hospital

Freda Chiu did the work here — she actually partnered with a real pediatric emergency team, and the book shows it in the specificity and warmth of its three distinct hospital scenarios. The CBCA shortlist nod for New Illustrator confirms the illustrations carry their weight too. It's more informational than narrative, so it won't get demanded at bedtime every night, but for preparing a nervous child for a hospital visit it's exactly what's needed.
