A World of Kindness
Pajama Press and editor Ann Featherstone assembled nine celebrated Canadian picture-book illustrators for this 2018 project, and the result is a visual achievement. Each spread carries a different artist's vision of an everyday act of kindness β saying please, standing up for someone who needs help β narrated through a child's voice. Royalties benefit the nonprofit Think Kindness, which adds a genuine layer of meaning to the concept. The honest note: Kirkus found it more useful as a discussion prompt than a satisfying standalone read, and with nine illustrators, the visual experience is inevitably uneven across pages. Manhattan Book Review gave it 4.5 out of 5 and it held Canada's bestseller list for over 20 weeks, so the audience response has been warm. Best treated as a conversation-starter rather than a bedtime story.
