Usborne's 32-page introduction to family diversity does its job cleanly and clearly: bright Mar Ferrero illustrations, accessible text for ages three to six, and coverage of the real family situations children actually encounter — lone-parent households, adoptive and foster families, blended families, and more. The family-tree activity at the back is a practical bonus. The strength here is honesty: children in non-traditional households see themselves reflected without fuss. The caveat for faith-conservative families is equally plain: the book normalizes all family configurations without distinction, including same-sex-parent families, and does so without commentary. That's a deliberate editorial choice, and families should know it going in. Otherwise the content is gentle, non-graphic, and age-appropriate. A thoughtful title from a trusted educational publisher.
