An Artful Escape

This short chapter book does what it sets out to do — pair a mild Paris mystery with genuine cultural education about French landmarks and history — but it does it in a formulaic series structure that prioritizes library rotation over memorable storytelling. Character development is thin even by early chapter-book standards, and there's not much here to pull a reader back for a second look. For classroom or library shelf-filling it's functional; for a child who wants a story they'll remember, there are better picks in the same age range.
