The rhyming scenarios are genuinely silly in the way small children love, and the phonemic-awareness value is real. But without trade reviews and with comparisons to Mo Willems and B.J. Novak setting a high bar this indie title can't fully clear, it's a pleasant read-aloud that doesn't quite earn the top shelf.
