A competent classroom supplement covering animal communication from bees to apes, written accessibly for the 9–12 crowd. The problem is age: an original from the late 1980s with a 2000 reprint means the science — especially the ape and dolphin language experiments — has moved on considerably since publication. Fine for a used-book find, but there are fresher titles covering the same ground.
