Another Quest for Celeste

Henry Cole pulls off something genuinely lovely here — a mouse's episodic journey up the Mississippi doubles as an introduction to young Abraham Lincoln's frontier boyhood, wrapped in soft, detailed pencil illustrations that Kirkus praised as evocative and gentle. The historical fiction and animal adventure blend naturally rather than awkwardly, and the themes of friendship, perseverance, and finding home land without being preachy. Works beautifully as a standalone for classrooms or as a sequel to A Nest for Celeste; either way it's a warm, well-crafted read.
