Attack of the Jaguar

Attack of the Jaguar follows Simon, a teenager surviving alone in the Amazon rainforest while trying to rescue his parents — and the book itself is structured as a training manual for Xtreme Adventures Inc., a fictional planet-saving organization complete with reader puzzles, tests, and challenges embedded in the narrative. That interactive format is the series' real selling point, pulling reluctant readers into the story by giving them something to do alongside it. Illustrated by Garry Walton and published by Chrysalis Books Group, the jungle survival setting is exciting and carries some light environmental awareness. The honest caveats: critical reception for this title is very limited, and the interactive-manual format has a narrower audience than straight adventure fiction. But for the right 9–12 reader — especially a reluctant one — the activity-based structure is a genuine draw. Worth It.
