Kate Endle and Chris Ballew (the musician behind Caspar Babypants) built a clever alphabet book on a simple but well-executed idea: pair each letter with an alliterative sentence featuring a culturally diverse name, an action, and an animal — then add a search-and-find list and make the whole text sing-along-ready as a downloadable song. Hiroshi hugs the hippo. Naladi naps with nuthatches. It stands out in an overcrowded genre by genuinely celebrating multicultural names without making that the point of the joke. The collage illustrations are warm and busy in a good way. The caveat is purely practical: the book is now out of print, so families will need to hunt for it. Worth the hunt for a preschool household that loves music alongside books.
