Two honest caveats: the stories are abridged from their original editions, which purists may notice, and the broader Babar franchise has attracted some postcolonial academic criticism for the original books' admiring depiction of French civilization. Laurent's later stories carry this less heavily than the earliest Jean de Brunhoff titles. A solid family gift.
