Barnyard Dance!
Sandra Boynton's 1993 classic is about as close to a sure thing as board books get. Farm animals — pigs, cows, horses, chickens — square-dance across every spread while Boynton's bouncy rhyming instructions invite babies to bow, stomp, and twirl right along. 'Bow to the horse, bow to the cow, twirl with the pig if you know how' is the kind of line that gets babies moving and parents smiling through the tenth reading. It won the 1994 National Parenting Publications Gold Medal and has sold tens of millions of copies for good reason. The honest caveat is simply that it's a single extended joke — no story arc, no character depth. But for ages zero to four, that's exactly the right scale. A true staple.
