The Batman brand does exactly what it is supposed to here — it pulls reluctant readers into early-chapter books they might not pick up otherwise, and the Level 2 I Can Read format is well-calibrated for the 4-8 age range. But the storytelling is thin even by early-reader standards, and the multiple interchangeable titles in the series make any individual volume feel disposable. A solid library pick rather than something to purchase.
