Battle for Time

Battle for Time is the sixth book in Winter Morgan's Minecraft time-travel series, and it delivers exactly what Minecraft-loving middle-graders come for: a familiar blocky world, adventure, and friends working together to solve problems — this time across a wheat shortage in a past era. The light historical angle gives reluctant readers a reason to engage with something beyond the game, and the content is completely clean and age-appropriate. The honest caveat is that this is licensed tie-in fiction, and that shows: characterization is thin, the plot is functional rather than memorable, and the series brand does most of the heavy lifting. It will not convert non-Minecraft readers, and jumping in at book six without the earlier context doesn't help. But for the kid who loves Minecraft and needs a book, this works.
