Melissa Stewart's photo-label format is developmentally sound for the 4-to-6 window — brilliant nature photography plus two-word labels is exactly how early readers build vocabulary and wonder. But it is extremely short, purely categorical, and narrow in appeal outside a preschool or kindergarten classroom context. A fine library acquisition; not a title most families will seek out on its own.
