Published by Tommy Nelson, a Christian imprint, this 2004 counting book uses nose-picking humor to walk young children through the numbers one to ten, all while arguing that even the slimy bits of God's creation deserve gratitude. The approach is irreverent by design, and for kids in the target range it will almost certainly get a laugh. That's real educational value — a memorable hook for learning to count. But parents should go in with open eyes: at least one prominent library review called it 'a nadir of tastelessness,' and the gross-out humor is sustained and central, not incidental. If toilet humor at the dinner table isn't your household's style, this probably isn't your book either. A niche novelty gift more than a shelf staple.
