The concept is genuinely clever — take Poe, Stoker, and Gilman and make them readable for middle schoolers who would otherwise never encounter them — and Perfection Learning's educational framing gives it legitimate classroom credibility. The problem is we have no reliable evidence of how skillfully these adaptations handle the originals; a clumsy retelling of 'The Yellow Wallpaper' could do more harm than good. Families comfortable with classic horror will find the premise appealing, but the lack of any critical confirmation of quality keeps this one in maybe territory.
