Clare Beaton's Bedtime Rhymes

Clare Beaton · 2019
70/100
👍 Worth It

Clare Beaton's hand-sewn fabric collage illustrations are genuinely unlike anything else on the board-book shelf — Books for Keeps and Kirkus both took notice of the artistry. The seven traditional rhymes are calm, soothing, and time-tested, with one gentle non-denominational divine reference that families of faith will appreciate. Kirkus did note that the muted textile palette may not hold toddler attention as well as bolder modern board books, so if your child needs high visual contrast this may not be the winner, but as a warm lap-read it earns its place.
