Allie Navarro is a genuinely refreshing middle-grade protagonist — a girl who codes and the story never treats that as unusual or in need of explanation. The social chaos that unfolds from her app beta-test is fast-paced and rings true to middle school dynamics, and the technology-ethics thread is handled without being preachy. Older middle-grade readers may find the writing simple, but for the 8-11 crowd this is a confident, positive read.
