Janet Frank's Little Golden Book classic has been delighting toddlers and preschoolers since 1953, and Paul Meisel's cheerful 1996 illustrations give the familiar text fresh energy. The rhyming question — what do daddies do all day? — gets answered with a parade of occupations from farming and steelwork to opera singing and writing children's books, modeling a wide and positive range of working lives. It's designed for the youngest readers and works beautifully as a Father's Day read-aloud or a simple conversation starter about what parents do when children are at home. The honest caveat is the traditional framing: fathers are exclusively shown as workers, which some families may find dated. Content depth is minimal by design. But for its intended purpose — celebrating dads with very young children — it does exactly what a Little Golden Book should.
