Die, Bug, Die!
Die, Bug, Die! is Les Martin's middle-grade novelization of the X-Files Season 3 episode 'War of the Coprophages,' published by HarperCollins. Mulder investigates a Massachusetts town where victims are turning up covered in cockroaches; Scully fields his calls from home with calm scientific counterarguments. Martin captures the episode's brisk, slightly sardonic tone efficiently, and the Mulder-Scully dynamic translates well to prose. For upper elementary and middle-school fans of the show, it's a fun revisit. The content β deaths, cockroaches, alien conspiracy β is standard X-Files fare: mildly scary but free of explicit violence or sexual content. The caveats are practical: this has no independent literary value beyond the source material, it requires X-Files familiarity to fully enjoy, and it's out of print. Worth tracking down for young fans of the series.
