As a franchise tie-in leveled reader it does its job competently — familiar Step into Reading format, kid-friendly dinosaur action, a poster kids will love — but competent is all it is. Shealy's nonfiction background helps the creature descriptions, but there's no original storytelling here and the Jurassic World Dominion connection dates it as the film fades from cultural memory. Early readers who are Jurassic World fans will enjoy it; everyone else has better dinosaur books to choose from.
