Dr. Seuss's Book of Bedtime Stories

Dr. Seuss · 2009
88/100
👍 Worth It

This compilation gathers three of Seuss's most enduring picture books — 'The Sleep Book,' 'Thidwick the Big-Hearted Moose,' and 'Horton Hears a Who!' — into a single hardcover designed for bedtime. Each story earns its place: Thidwick teaches the limits of unchecked generosity, Horton's 'a person's a person, no matter how small' is one of the most resonant moral lines in children's literature, and The Sleep Book delivers Seuss's signature silly inventiveness at the drowsy end of the day. Faith families will particularly appreciate Horton's message, which many read as a quiet affirmation of human dignity. The honest caveat is that families who already own these three stories get no new content here. As a gift or a first-time Seuss collection, though, it is an excellent choice.
