The DK visual formula still works — the photographs and diagrams are genuinely engaging for 8-to-12-year-olds — but a 2004 Earth science book is showing its age in exactly the areas where currency matters most, particularly climate projections and the now-defunct online link system. A newer DK Earth science title would serve a young reader better.
