Douglas Wilson is a sharp, witty writer and the civilizational questions he raises — what fills the vacuum when Western secularism exhausts itself — are genuinely serious ones worth engaging. But the book's structure, assembled from repurposed blog posts, undermines the argument's coherence, and the 'Mere Christendom' vision is contested even among Wilson's natural readers. Worth it for Reformed readers already in conversation with Wilson's work; a poor entry point for everyone else, and miscategorized as children's content.
